Sheer Curtains
Sheer Curtains are a very functional type of Window Treatment, in many different ways. You can have the exact look that you want for your room. Sheers are translucent drapes which cover a window while allowing light in so the curtains can be kept closed. There are many fabrics that curtains can be manufactured from, including but not limited to, silks, cottons, polyester, new age polyesters and sheer fabrics. Curtains can be lined with three pass block out or cotton linings or certain fabrics such as sheers can be made without lining.

To highlight big windows and soften the sun’s rays, a sheer curtain is your best option. Sheers have been used for many years. Also known as window sheers or panels, curtains or drapes made of sheer fabric typically hang the full length of a window, if not all the way to the floor. The transparency of sheer fabric allows for a window to be dressed, but for sunlight to still come through. Kitchen sheer curtains are very light in weight and can be used independently or along with curtains made from other heavy fabric.
Sheer Curtains are soft, beautiful and work well for filtering out light and providing subtle privacy. Sheers are great when used alone since it creates a very warm and relaxing effect allowing a lot of light in through your windows. Sheer curtains are a simple and affordable form of window treatments. There are many types of sheer fabric available, some more sheer than others. The choice of a sheer fabric is dependent on the translucence desired. The materials which can be made translucent include gossamer, rayon or nylon. Sheer window curtains are light weight and very beautiful. They can be hung alone or you can combine them with other styles such as pleated curtains. If your purpose is to merely accent a room, sheer curtains are a lovely way to accomplish this. You can choose the curtain rod that strikes your fancy, and hang the curtains from it in a variety of ways. Due to the see-through nature of sheer curtains, drapery linings would not be used.

Alone, they can act as a perfect light filter and, coupled with drapes, they provide partial privacy during the day and complete privacy at night. If you are not physically close to the window and your room is darker than the outside, it will be difficult for someone to look into your room with the sheer curtains closed. If you move closer to the window, someone may be able to see a shadow of you but not much more. Sheer curtains do not need to be strictly relegated to windows, they can be used in any number of decorative ways. For instance, you can create a luxurious setting by hanging lengths of sheer material from the head of your bed and wrapping the flowing material down each side.
When the time comes to clean the sheer curtain, place the sheer or knit drapes in wash bags before cleaning them to avoid pulled threads or tangles. Set the wash cycle to “lightweight cotton or synthetic”. Then dry them on delicate cycle with air only or hang outside or over your shower curtain rod. If your an old school type of person, you may have a curtain stretcher that you can place them in to dry.
